This animation was commissioned by AsaNiko, digital illustrator and VTuber Mama of Code Star, as a celebratory GIF to commemorate the streamer’s upcoming debut. The goal was to create a short, expressive piece that captures the character’s personality and builds excitement around the launch.
From there, our team began the animation process, adapting the provided artwork into a format suitable for motion. A chibi-style version of the VTuber was developed to enhance expressiveness and readability in a short-form format, alongside the inclusion of the character’s bat companion (“poof”) as a supporting element.
Our team, especially our digital animator focused on bringing these elements to life while maintaining the charm and identity of the original design, resulting in a playful and engaging celebratory piece for the debut.
AsaNiko provided original concept artwork and visual references to guide the animation direction. These assets established the foundation for the project, ensuring that the animation remained faithful to the intended design and overall aesthetic of Code Star.
